Portrait: Ignacio Valderas

Meet Ignacio Valderas, Creative and Head of Marketing at Skriptor Zigila. We asked him 10 questions to get to know him a little better in his personal and professional life.

What do you do at Skriptor Zigila?

I work as a Creative, meaning, creating names and supporting companies that want to name or rename their business or product. I have been doing this for 5-6 years now and it's a fascinating world. I am also responsible for marketing and communication, which is another type of creativity, especially when it comes to improving the agency in different ways.

What makes your work unique?

What makes my work unique is the fact that we work with small to large businesses in all markets. They all have different stories and visions, all unique in their own ways. One day it’s a revolutionizing start-up, the next day it’s a merger between two tech giants. To see a name that you have created on a billboard is pretty cool, and a testament to our amazing team. For those that are unaware of what a naming agency is, here is a quick run-down.

Do you have a favorite name, in general andone that you have created?

In general, I am quite fond of the electric motorcycles and moped maker CAKE, because it goes against conventional wisdom in our business and shows strong conviction in what you are doing. Acne (Studios) is also a perfect example of this. From our side, it's probably ARELION or PODLER. The former creates an attractive combination of letters and words that go well together. The latter is playfully descriptive in its own way, which is nice for a change.

What are your top tips for creating names?

Like anything in life, the more you force it, the worse it gets. Just let it flow naturally and be silly about it. Creativity takes on many expressions, and it's one of those things that doesn't have a blueprint. Flirt with your weird side. Let it express itself, evaluate, and keep the things that you like. We have clients that have been naming their companies for fun for many years and are really good at it. Their playfulness has lead them to their true essence, and it shows when they come to us for inspiration.

Do you have any hidden talent?

It’s very easy for me to remember faces and someone’s mannerism. It’s a subconscious thing. If you have any tips on how I can profit from this, let me know.

What do you cook for dinner if you can choose?

A great question. I like to immerse myself in culinary arts (although my presentation skills are pretty awful) and try new things. My latest passion is probably Pesto, so I’d cook the best Pesto Pasta you’ve ever had.

What is your favorite book?

I feel like this is one of those questions that determine your fate... I enjoyed Heart of a Dog by Mikhail Bulgakov a lot.

Favorite Holiday destination?

Anywhere near nature and far away from the city.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

“Stay in your lane”.

Be humble and keep focus. I believe it’s the only way to change things around you in a positive direction.

What is the best thing about working at Skriptor Zigila?

We have a great combination of people and personalities, which makes the atmosphere fun and inspiring. The combination of cultures makes a good mesh, certainly in projects where we complement eachother’s strengths and weaknesses.
