BBK, a leading Chinese Electronics companies, aimed to introduce a new Global electronics brand. For this we developed the OPPO brand name which appeared to be a perfect fit for a smart phone proposition.
The name is derived from opportunity. it is a word brand in perfect balance, reflecting the core values: harmony and equality. Both distinctive and accessible.
The brand needed to be truly Global, resonating with target groups in all countries, with a worldwide trademark and a free URL (.com).
The interactive naming process took less than 4 weeks, followed by a 4 week period of legal and linguistic research. The full project was conducted in close co-operation with the International design agency Studio Dumbar responsible for the visual identity.
It was successfully introduced on the Chinese Home market and expanded to become one of the top 5 smart phone brands in the world.
